This pattern was originally written for Nomis 3/15 yarn, which is no longer available.
I suggest using Tamm Rayito or other sports weight type yarns.
By using another yarn, the hat size may come out slightly different, which should not matter too much.

Push EON to E-pos., set T to 9, hang hem by hanging the loops from the cast on comb onto the needles in E-pos.
(Tip: I pick up the cast on comb slightly, place a metal rod on the knitted piece to weigh it down and then hang the loops onto the needles.)
Knit 1 row to close the hem.

Double up stitches using lace carriage.
Push empty needles to A-pos.
T. 3 – knit 6 rows.
Push needles from B – to E-pos.
Break yarn, leaving a long tail.
Thread yarn into double eyed needle, pulling it through far enough so that yarn is doubled.
Take first stitch from needle unto double eyed needle and pull stitch onto thread.
Repeat taking off all stitches.
I usually take three or four stitches at a time onto the double eyed needle and then pull the yarn through..
Tie a double knot with the yarn ends.
Lightly steam the hat, sew up seam using mattress stitch.
If desired, make a pompom and fasten to top of hat.
Abbreviations: Rc = row counter,
Carr = carriage, EON = every other needle
Pos = position, T = tension, R = row(s)
